I'm looking through the various shareware programs designed to transfer music from my iPod and to my hard drive. Does anybody have any recommendations?

I use a program called CopyPod, but it looks like they don't have a Mac version. :( Sorry.

This search turns up several, several of which are freeware. (I haven't used any myself.)

I've ended up with one called "Senuti," which in addition to working under OS 10.3x has the added benefit of being free. It furthermore appears to extract the songs from the iPod and actually names the files by their actual song name, instead of something like BDHG.mp4, which is what some of the other programs appear to do. Hard to know which files I'm extracting if the filenames are fucked up like that.

I understand Apple's reasoning for making the iPod a one-way device, but c'mon: the stuff that's on there already is *my* stuff. I just would rather back it up from the iPod than have to re-rip everything all over again when the thing dies.

So there.
