See, here's the drawback to 1) not having cable; and 2) having a nine-month pregnant woman stuck at home 24/7.

I have to sit in the same room with a television that is switched on and showing The View.

Someone, God, Satan, John Steinbeck's ghost, anyone: but a bullet in my head before I have to listen to this show again.

Gah!

See, she uses the TV as aural wallpaper, and I can live with it for now, but I've warned her that she's not going to be able to do that once the baby comes, not unless it's kids stuff like Sesame Street or those Baby Einstein DVDs we got... I wont' have my girl growing up to be a television zombie, dammit! I won't!

Ah, The View ladies -- some of the most insipid TV available. People just lap up insipid with a spoon and a fork, don'tcha know.

Oh, believe me, I know, since I work on an even more insipid show every weekday for a living.

It just makes me sad.

Oh, I'm already on that one, baby!

Especially because there's no Elmo in it ;)

What's the view? I've discovered lost, but that's okay because the Slave is as addicted as I am.

Oh, you want to stay away from The View. It's a morning talk show with Rosie O'Donnell, Barbara Walters and a couple of other talking heads... well, I should say shrieking heads, really. Essentially, it is an hour of four shrill women yelling at the top of their lungs about semi-news stories, celebrity goofs and Broadway theater. It's truly, truly hideous, trust me.

You'd be better off with cable. That's pretty much the only escape.

Actually, a better escape would be to just turn off the TV altogether... that's where I'm hoping we'll get to before too long ;)
