Here's the Thing

Obey the D!
If I want to watch the film version of the musical Hairspray, then I'll watch the original version with Divine and Ricki Lake, and not John Travolta in a fat suit.

This bothers me as much as a film version of The Producers based upon the musical The Producers based up the film version of The Producers.

Just watch the originals, you lazy fucks, and leave the films I like alone.

Oh, and don't you dare remake Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, or I'm liable to go on a killing spree.

The Producers musical movie was pretty awful. The only saving grace was Will Ferrell, and John Barrowman playing the pretty blonde lead tenor in "Springtime for Hitler". :)

Oh, and also, I think they're now making a musical Broadway version of either Young Frankenstein or History of the World Part One. *headdesk*

I heard that too! About Young Frankenstein. One of my most favourite movies of all time. EVERYTHING doesn't have to be made into a musical. I'm still traumatized by Wicked and it's been a musical for a while.

No one should be making these adaptations. Ever.

Also, there's no way you can do Young Frankenstein without Madeline Kahn. NO WAY!

I so had the hots for Madeline Kahn when I was a boy. Does this make me a weirdo?

She's hot!! I don't think so. I think it reflects excellent taste in women. ;) She's the kind of woman I would have switched teams for.

/agree agree agree... WHY DOES HOLLYWOOD HAVE TO KEEP REMAKING WHAT'S ALREADY PERFECT?!?

I am so NOT going to see the remake. In fact I think I may go to Hollywood Video and rent the original out of spite on opening night.

I repeat: I adore Madeline Kahn. I would marry her, if she weren't dead. Of course, with the topic of discussion being a film about raising the dead... could be something to look into ;)

You're traumatized by Wicked?! I LOVED Wicked! After I read the book, hubby and I went to Chicago last November and saw it for our anniversary. It blew me away (even if the whole 'No One Mourns The Wicked' number seemed a bit heavy-handed).

Oh..I thought they were remaking Butch.. but maybe I just heard wrong..

Oh no, you didn't hear wrong. Rumor is that someone is developing it... and that, my dear, is just wrong in all sorts of different ways. There's a special level in Hell reserved for those who would remake a classic such as that.

I'm so harsh, aren't I?

But they could use Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. They're dreamy. ;)

Please don't go on a killing spree.

Newman and Redford, baby. That's the only way to go.

It's true. It's one of the classics that shouldn't be messed with.

For the record I don't think either Brad Pitt or Matt Damon are dreamy. ;)
