Master Shake

04:365, originally uploaded by Booknero.

I have always had terrible eyesight. Anything that I want to see clearly without my glasses on has to be roughly five inches in front of my face, or it's soft, fuzzy or completely blurred out of existence.

I got my first pair of glasses when I was fourteen. I had assumed up until then that everyone must have seen as badly as I did, because I'd been passing the eye exams given in school ever since I was five years old. Obviously, if my vision was bad, it would have been caught somewhere and some when. Certainly I'd failed the color blindness test when I was six years old: I couldn't (and still can't) see whatever magic number is supposed to reveal itself from the rough pattern of seemingly random dots on the paper. However, nobody pointed out that I was also blind as a mole rat.

With my glasses on, I can see your secrets.

People with the worse eyesight always have the nicest eyes.

I can't even argue with you on that one. I've learned not to be humble about the eye thing when people point it out to me.

So I've got one nice feature! Go, me! :)

So, I don't have to tell you that I hide my secrets in the webs of my fingers?

I've been wearing glasses since I was in 2nd grade. In 7th, I had bifocals for a year. Yeah. Cute.

One eye is a -7.75. The other? -8.25. Love it!

Hey, just keep your glasses handy, darlin'. When the end of the world comes, we can use your glasses to focus the sun's rays on stacks of wood, so that we can have fire once civilization runs out of matches!

I'm always looking ahead, I am...

I once made out with you in the back room of Waldenbooks back in the mid-nineties.

Oh, wait, that was a fantasy, not a secret. Sorry ;)

Are you coming out here in 2008, or am I coming out there?

I can never keep track!

Now you get to play with cross sections of babies all day long.

You're my sort of girl!
