Tom Waits in Pain
Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Anna Nicole Smith was the top story on every news program yesterday--over the war or our own local child molester or any of the thousands of other more relevant stories--but it just really, really is a sad thing. Not to sound overly harsh or cruel or anything, but really: why cares?

Apparently, news directors everywhere.

Seriously. I've seen her "act" before, and it's not pretty.

The poor thing. She was at her best as a Guess? model back in the day...

She was iconic- like it or not. She was the woman who made us feel better about our lives, no matter how drab they might seem. She was the sister/friend you wanted to save. I was pretty much indifferent to her existance, but I do think it's a shame that she had to die so young.

Then again, she realized her dream of being Marilyn Monroe-
-She died before 40 under mysterious circumstances
-She was a tragic figure

She was even in a hospital with a children's wing named after Joe Dimaggio. How weird is that?

Plus she had big boobies.

That's really what made her, right?

You know, I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this way. I mean, let's talk about the thousands of people who die prematurely every year for lack of adequate health coverage, in our own country. Allegedly the richest country in the world. That's a real news story.

Really, everyone that I know (even within the news building) thought that spending so much time with this story was just a ridiculous waste of energy and resources... well, other than the news director.

Is it any wonder that we're all doomed?
